Pleats

There are several different ways in which you can pleat a garment. Here is an example of each style:

I opted for the side pleats switching direction at the center of the skirt creating a central focal point.

I also decided to use different fabrics for each pleat to highlight the luxurious wealth of the King.
I stuck to a colour scheme of blue, grey and cream as these were colours favoured during this era. 


I also really like the idea of sewing down the tops of the pleats, as shown on the image above, and using the seams to create a feature, adding to the elaborate detailing.
